Welcome to Pike X

Hi, I’m Gaille Pike.

In 2020 I began writing a weekly column, Tallgrass & Tumbleweeds, which quickly entered syndicated and now is available in 20 Kansas newspapers. I do not deal in politics or fractious current events but rather focus on the daily wonders and situations of daily life.

In 2023, I joined the newsroom of The Hays Daily News on a freelance basis as its News Reporter. My assignments include, but are not limited to, covering the Ellis County and Hays City Commissions, the USD489 Board of Education and the Ellis City Council.

I also write a syncated interview series, The Sunflower Seven, a Co-Producer and Production Manager for the 46 Trap documentary currently in production: “The Devils You Knew” (The Levittown Red Devils Documentary Project.)

My company, Coyote Web Synergy, also independently publishes fiction and non-fiction. Coyote’s catalogue continues to grow, authorring authors tailored services, by subscription or project, ranging from manuscript review to publishing and promotion. I also design and build websites.

Please Allow Me To Introduce Myself

I grew up in Healy, Kansas, graduated summa cum laude from Southwestern College in Winfield and then attended Temple University in Philadelphia’s Creative Writing Program where I obtained a Master’s degree in English. I remained on the East Coast for three decades before returning to Kansas in 2019.

Since then, I have been rediscovering the beauty and diversity of my home state and once a week I try to recreate a bit of that magic for my Readers in my syndicated column. I crisscross the state constantly and there is no end to the wealth of untold stories buried in the Kansas plains.

I enjoy my work with clients from coast to coast, but do not deny that I'm most at home in the Mid-Atlantic states. Most recently, my documentary work lands me often on Long Island, New York, where I could not be happier.
