Pheasants Past And Present
Published Week of December 2, 2022
Hey Subscribers, supporters and guests. Thank you for being here. Thank you for the support. You will hear a smidge of a treasure of mine in the audio—my Grandad, E.S. Stewart on the violin and Inez Bean on the piano, recorded on cassette many years ago.
Thank you, Mom for hanging onto all those cassettes, and thank you, Doug Delaney for transferring a few of them to a format the Stewart and Bean families can enjoy for years to come.
I simultaneously appreciate my present and swim in memories of my past when I listen to my Grandad playing in 1974. The lens through which I view now and then differs in perception at age 60 than when I was 12. Striving to keep things in perspective led me to write in the column I am sending you today, Pheasants Past And Present, the syndicated TALLGRASS & TUMBLEWEEDS which appeared in print last week.
Now everything I wrote then (last week) was true at the time, to the best of my knowledge. If you stick around after I finish reading my column, I’ll tell you what I got wrong, what I left out, and I’ll even give you my Mom’s “recipe” for cooking pheasant.
I hope you enjoy Pheasants Past and Present
